Learn about teaching online, assess your readiness, and take the first steps toward course development.
Teaching is teaching, but the online environment foregrounds a different set of skills. Use Penn State's simple survey to assess your readiness. When you've finished, share the results with your ODL consultant, who can help you create a plan for filling in any gaps.
ODL online course design faculty have specific assignments by department and program, and will serve as your primary point of contact and ombudspersons for online course development and delivery. If you do not yet have a contact person or wish to inquire about online course development, please contact Dr. Annette Jones, Assistant Director for Instructional Development, via email or at (850) 644-6141.
Canvas User Support at FSU is your (and your students') first and best resource for learning about all things Canvas -- as well as system announcements and a direct link for submitting help requests. Visit the Canvas Support Center for direct answers to specific questions about features related to course content.
Your ODL consultant will schedule a kickoff meeting during the first semester of development to discuss the roles of team members and help create a project timeline. In the meantime, we recommend reviewing the article Faculty and GA Roles in Online Courses.
